The Makawao History Museum has received a $10,000 grant from the Atherton Family Foundation to continue filming the oral stories of our living kupuna (elders) in order to produce a professional film that conveys the unique and important history of upcountry Maui.

The goal of the Kupuna Film Project is to develop a marketable 60 minute documentary that can be used by schools, film festivals and PBS.

The Kupuna Film Project is an important part of fulfilling the mission of the Museum by preserving and sharing the heritage of the Upcountry community.
